Valentines' Day 2016
Lots of days I watch the clock from about 3:30pm until bedtime. I find activities all day long to get kids busy and moving, mainly to keep melt-downs to a minimum (kid melt-downs or mom melt-downs ;) ). We spend lots of time running around from preschool, ballet, Welles’ therapy, doctor appointments and play dates. Lots of days, even home days, we stay busy, busy, busy.
Today, we woke up, opened valentines from each other, made heart-shaped French toast (looked more like blobs) and turned on the Pandora “love songs” playlist. Then Scott and I laid on the couch and watched Scarlett and Welles dance on the living room rug for about thirty minutes. I wanted to write this down so I could remember these kind of days, or moments even. I told Scott that someday we would really miss mornings like this and he agreed. Life with three small kids is pretty exhausting and sometimes I get so busy with it all to stop and enjoy these precious moments. Watching Scarlett’s dramatic and uncoordinated dance moves while she would remind us to "keep watching" if we looked away for even a moment, is something I always want to remember. And seeing the way Welles watches his silly big sister and then tries to mimic her crazy moves is a priceless memory that I want to keep forever. But eventually Welles resorts to his signature dance move of hopping in circles and Scarlett laughs histerically and looks at us to join in on the laughter. These little things create the feelings that I live for. These moments are what it’s all about.
I just sent the two “big kids” to church with daddy. Now I’ll wrap this up so I can snuggle Ames by the fire and smell his sweet, milky scent. Also something I want savor for a lifetime. Happy love day, my friends!
P.S. I'm no Pinterest-crafty mom, so I was pretty proud of these folded paper, sharpie written cards! ;)
